Community Development Programs

At the core, all our programs support the development of the communities in which they operate. However, Hope recognizes the need to also have programs whose sole purpose is to support community development from a broader perspective. With a focus that is both broad enough to be flexible and narrow enough to be impactful, our community development programs serve as vehicles to support and revitalize communities, especially those that are impoverished or low resource areas.

Love Your City

Love Your City (LYC) program is our way of making a real impact in the lives of those in need in our local community and engaging first time volunteers and groups in a low commitment environment.

Research has shown that while over 90% of us want to volunteer, only 1 out of 4 Americans actually do.

Volunteer one day a month.

Make an immeasurable impact in your community.

Start with a need

The way people choose to volunteer has changed.

Potential volunteers search for more varied and short-term roles that enable them to do different activities, as opposed to sticking with one consistent role. Enter: Love Your City. This is Hope’s on-boarding program that offers both new and seasoned volunteers the opportunity to experience the benefits of serving their community with Hope.

use passionate people

Once a month, volunteers come together as a group and take to the streets en masse to participate in various projects.  Through

LYC, our aim is to create a bridge between volunteers and those they serve to inspire real human connection that meets a larger need. From delivering gifts to children with cancer and blood disorders through our annual holiday party, passing out hygiene kits and giving free haircuts to individuals and families in various homeless communities, or beautifying local community spaces such as school gardens, LYC is an easy way to plug in to the serving world and become a part of something much larger than yourself.

love with no strings attached

By hosting an organized, impactful, monthly community service event that is open to individuals, families, and/or groups, LYC caters to both our volunteers’ and the communities’ needs. Not only do our volunteers feel fulfilled and inspired, the organizations and people we serve do, too.
