Hope Read Aloud Program
The HOPE Read Aloud program is an extension of our current mentoring program at Randolph Elementary School in Arlington, VA. The program's main goal is to connect passionate volunteers with struggling readers to help students strengthen their literacy skills, build confidence, and discover a passion for reading. You can be a mentor, a leader, and an educator with no prior experience in the classroom.
The program will be run weekly on Tuesdays starting in September from 7 - 8 PM. However, volunteers can commit to as little as 1 time a month or on a weekly basis. Each session will consist of a quick snack/icebreaker, an activity, and paired reading between you and a child.
If I decide to volunteer, what is expected of me?
Commit to attending at least one read aloud meeting a month.
Prepare for monthly meetings by selecting and bringing a book of your choice.
Complete volunteer paperwork, including a background check.
Attend a volunteer training.
